Publication Ethics

IQTISHODUNA: Jurnal Ekonomi Islam is firmly committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows the principles and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
All participants in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to act with honesty, transparency, and responsibility to preserve the integrity of scholarly communication in Islamic thought, Sufism, and philosophy.

Duties of Editors : Editors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted manuscripts are evaluated for their intellectual content without discrimination or bias.

  • Editorial decisions must be based solely on the manuscript’s academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the field.
  • Editors are obliged to maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and must not use any part of the work for personal research without the author’s written consent.
  • Editors must prevent any conflict of interest and disclose relationships that could influence their judgment.
  • When ethical concerns arise, editors should act in accordance with COPE’s flowcharts and guidelines, ensuring due process and fairness.

Duties of Authors : Authors are expected to uphold academic honesty and ethical conduct in the preparation and submission of manuscripts.

  • Submissions must represent original research, free from plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or redundant publication.
  • Authors must properly acknowledge all sources that have influenced their work.
  • All listed authors should have made a significant contribution to the research and approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Any potential conflict of interest—financial, institutional, or personal—must be disclosed.
  • When the study involves human participants, data collection, or ethnographic research, authors must ensure that ethical clearance and informed consent have been obtained.

Duties of Reviewers : Peer reviewers are essential to ensuring the quality, objectivity, and scholarly rigor of the journal.

  • Reviewers must provide constructive, unbiased, and timely evaluations of manuscripts.
  • Confidentiality must be strictly maintained; reviewers shall not use unpublished material disclosed in the manuscript for their own benefit.
  • Reviewers must immediately inform the editor if a conflict of interest exists or if they recognize substantial similarity between the reviewed manuscript and another published or submitted work.
  • Feedback should aim to enhance the manuscript’s clarity, methodological soundness, and scholarly contribution.

Publisher’s Responsibilities : The publisher, Department of Sharia Economics Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Syarifuddin Lumajang, East Java, Indonesia, is dedicated to supporting the editorial team in maintaining ethical publishing standards.

  • The publisher ensures editorial independence, free from commercial or political influence.
  • In cases of ethical breach, plagiarism, or data manipulation, the publisher will work with editors to take corrective measures, including publication of corrections, retractions, or statements of concern, following COPE procedures.
  • The publisher promotes academic freedom, transparency, and inclusivity within the journal’s scholarly community.

Allegations of Misconduct : If ethical misconduct is alleged, such as plagiarism, citation manipulation, data fabrication, or authorship dispute, the journal will initiate an investigation guided by COPE’s best practice flowcharts.

  • Authors will be given an opportunity to respond to any claims.
  • Proven misconduct will lead to actions appropriate to the case, including rejection, retraction, or notification to relevant institutions.
  • All investigations will be handled with confidentiality, impartiality, and respect for all parties involved.

Research Ethics and Data Integrity : Authors are responsible for ensuring the ethical treatment of research subjects. For studies involving interviews, surveys, or human data, authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained and participants’ anonymity preserved.
Data and materials should be accurately represented, and authors are encouraged to make data available upon reasonable request for academic verification.

Open Access and Copyright Policy :The journal can be accessed publicly, which means that all content is provided freely accessible without charge to either the user or the institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or cite to the full text of the article did not have to ask permission from the publisher or author.

Authors who publish with IQTISHODUNA: Jurnal Ekonomi Islam journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the IQTISHODUNA: Jurnal Ekonomi Islam  journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors can enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or edit it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) before and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.
